Royal Canin Diabetic Special Low Carbohydrate

Diabetes mellitus occurs regularly in dogs and cats. It is usually seen in older animals, but can also occur in younger animals. In most cases, diabetes is treatable with insulin and a proper diet food such as Royal Canin Diabetic Dog. Key features:

Due to a low starch content in Royal Canin Diabetic Dog, increases in blood sugar levels after meals are limited. The diet food contains specific carbohydrates (barley, maize and psyllium) that are gradually absorbed by the body after the meal. These ingredients help to limit fluctuations in blood sugar. The dietary fibre slows down absorption in the small intestine, and improves regulation of the glucose level in affected dogs. A specific combination of natural antioxidants can inhibit the effects of ageing.

Use of this diet food improves insulin sensitivity. When switching to this food, your dog should have regular blood sugar checks to adjust their insulin dose accordingly.

Dehydrated poultry protein, barley, hydrolysed animal proteins, wheat gluten*, maize gluten, vegetable fibre, animal fats, beet pulp, manioc (tapioca), fish oil, psyllium husk and psyllium seeds, fructo-oligosaccharides, minerals, tagetes flour. Carbohydrate sources: barley (20.5%), cassava (tapioca) (5%).
