    Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile

Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile is a concentrated lactic acid bacterial treatment for birds and reptiles.

Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile is a food supplement for growing and adult birds and reptiles that are coping with changing nutritional or environmental conditions, or after treatment with antibiotics. Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile is available in two varieties, a gel (syringe) and a powder. The powder is more affordable, but the gel is more effective. The lactic acid bacteria are encapsulated in oil. This way they are better protected in the gel variety and it's easier for the bacteria to reach the intestines more effectively.

For use in rabbits we recommend Bene Bac Pet.

    Use for:

Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile can be used for the following symptoms:

    • Changes in environment
    • Supplementing other therapy
    • Alongside treatment with antibiotics
    • For stress before or after a trip
    • During rearing
    • When changing diet
    • Maintaining immunity, in long-term use.

    Dosage and treatment duration:

    Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile Powder

Bene-Bac powder can be sprinkled over wet food or fruit. For use with dry food, the powder can be moistened with water or oil. Any uneaten food with powder on should be discarded after 8 hours. The containers used must be thoroughly cleaned.

    • Up to 30g body weight, 0.338g = 1/8 teaspoon
    • 30-250g body weight, 0.68g = 1/4 teaspoon
    • 250-450g body weight, 1.35g = 1/2 teaspoon

A teaspoon is equal to 2.7 grams of Bene-Bac powder. When you begin using Bene-Bac, either at birth or later, administer on the first, third, fifth and seventh day. After this, once weekly usage of one teaspoon is sufficient. In periods of change, use the same dosage as described before twice, with three days in between - once before and once after the change takes place.

If more than one bird is kept in one enclosure, calculate the weight of all birds put together to determine how much powder you should mix through the feed. For larger ratites, use one teaspoon for young, growing birds and two teaspoons for adult animals. Use the supplement on the same interval as described above. For reptiles, use the same dosage as for birds.

    Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile Gel:

There are different doses for birds, terrarium animals and rodents. It is important to adhere to the instructions for administering Bird Bene-Bac to your bird. It will not benefit the bird to increase the recommended dosage. Excess Bene-Bac can lead to an accumulation in the craw of the bird, which can cause pain or problems in the crop.

    Birds

Bene-Bac Bird & Reptile should be given to birds with food. For the targeted treatment of individual birds in a group that share food, the required dose can be administered directly into the mouth. For the accurate measurement of small quantities, use a syringe with ml markings (1g Bird Bene-Bac = 1ml).

    • Small birds (such as canaries, parakeets and finches) 0.5g (= pea-sized amount)
    • Large parrots and pigeons 1g
    • Hand rearing: 1 dose per day, on days 1, 3, 5 and 7. Then 1 dose per day once the birds are able to eat independently
    • Under adverse circumstances: use gel twice, 1 day before and 1 day after moments of change in food or environment
    • Growth and maintenance: 1 dose a week for the first 3 months, every other week thereafter
    • Maintenance: feed bene-bac every other week. Use 0.5 grams for finches, canaries, parakeets, Australian cockatoos and every other type of small bird. Use 1 gram for Amazon parrots, cockatoos, macaws and every other type of big bird

    Terrarium animals (reptiles)

For reptiles, Bene-Bac should be syringed directly into the mouth. A veterinarian could also inject it for you.

    • Hand rearing: 1 dose per day on day 1,3, 5 and 7. Then 1 dose per day once the reptiles are able to eat independently
    • Under adverse circumstances: use gel 2 times, 1 day before and 1 day after moments of change in food or environment. Small reptiles 0.5 grams and bigger reptiles 1 gram
    • Growth and maintenance: Use 0.5 - 1 gram 12 to 24 hours before feeding and use again after 2 to 12 hours after feeding
