British Longhair
The British Longhair isn’t a well-known cat breed. Although the breed achieved recognition in several countries, it’s not formally recognised in the UK. Their personality resembles that of the British Shorthair, but their appearances are worlds apart. The British Longhair is longhaired and their body is stocky. They are known as friendly cats that are quick to adapt to new situations.

Appearance
Colour
The British Longhair exists in many different colours, like white, black, ginger, blue and cream. Their colour can be uniform or patterned. A uniform coat should have no white hairs or markings. British Longhairs can also be tabby.
Body, legs and tail
The build of a British Shorthair resembles that of the Persian cat. They have a strong chest and a short, muscular back. British Shorthairs are supposed to be stocky. They have short legs with round, sturdy paws. Their tail is fat and short with a blunt tip.
Head, ears and eyes
The head of the British Shorthair looks quite solid. They have a broad skull with puffy cheeks, a broad nose and a well-developed chin. The small, short ears are set fairly wide apart. British Shorthairs are known for their big, round eyes. Their eye colour depends on the colour of the coat.
Coat
The British Shorthair has a semi-long coat. The hair feels firm and is springy. The coat does need quite a bit of care. It’s recommended to give your British Shorthair a thorough brushing at least once a week to prevent the undercoat from matting.
