Don Sphynx
The Don Sphynx, or Donsky, is a hairless Russian cat breed. The breed is not related to the Canadian Sphynx. The first Don Sphynx was discovered in 1987 by breeder Elena Kovaleva in Rostov on Don, Russia. The first Don Sphynx kitten looked normal at first, but started losing its hair after four months. The gene that causes the Don Sphynx to lose its hair is dominant.

It’s a great family cat that’s good with kids, other cats and even dogs. The well-tempered cat is intelligent and loves attention. The Don Sphynx is a house cat that doesn’t like being alone.

Colour
The Don Sphynx can have several skin colours. In some cases there’s even a pattern visible on the skin.
Body, legs and tail
This hairless cat breed is of average size, muscular and has strong bones. The Don Sphynx has long legs and a long, straight tail. The tip of the tail may have dense, curly hair.
Head, eyes and ears
The head of the Don Sphynx is wedge-shaped and very wrinkly. Their almond-shaped eyes can have any colour. Their ears are big and placed high on the skull.
Coat
Although this cat is hairless, their skin does need care. Their skin produces more sebum than that of other cats. It’s important to regularly bathe the cats. Because the skin is sensitive to sunlight, sun protection is important.
