Body, legs and tail

Manx cats are medium-sized. They have a broad chest and a short, rounded back. The shoulders are lower than the very rounded hindquarters. It has solid bones and is well-muscled. The hind legs are longer than the hind feet and they have rounded feet. The Manx has a skip-like gait reminiscent of a rabbit. Manxes are most recognisable by the absence of their tail. A dimple rumpy means he has no tail at all, while a riser means that there is a bump under the fur. Note: not every Manx is completely rumpy. You also have a “stumpy”: a tail that is only a few centimetres. If the Manx has a normal or kinked tail, it is called taily.

Head, ears and eyes

The Manx has a fairly broad and rounded head with a moderately rounded forehead. The cheeks of the cat are visible. The snout is a bit longer than it is wide. The nose is quite big. His whiskers are round, well-developed and long. The chin is firm. Manxes have medium-sized ears that are broad at the base with rounded tips. They are set far apart and are thinly furred. The large eyes of the Manx are rounded and slightly slanted. The eye colour matches the coat colour.

Coat

The Manx’ double coat is short and dense. It has a thick undercoat.
