Character

External features

Colour

All colour varieties are recognised in the Ojos Azules, although as little white as possible is preferred. However, white spots are often found on the snout, the end of the tail and on the paws.

Body, paws and tail

The body of the Ojos Azules is neither too long nor too massive nor too short. The hind paws are slightly longer than the front legs and extend into tiny feet. The bones are delicate to moderately developed. This cat’s tail is in proportion to the body and ends in a point.

Head, ears and eyes

The head of the Ojos Azules is shaped like an equilateral triangle, with the forehead slightly curved. The snout is square with a nose that features a slight stop. The ears of this breed are rather large and the tips rounded. They are situated high on the head. The Ojos Azules is characterised by its remarkable blue eyes. The eye colour is light or grey blue; other blue shades, such as lavender blue or turquoise, are not desirable. Ojos Azelus can also have an uneven eye colour, in which case one eye is blue and the other is golden, copper or green. Dark colours are preferred. The large eyes are almost circular, yet not spherical.

Coat

The Ojos Azules has a short, glossy coat that is silky and fine to the touch. The undercoat is barely developed but should be more intense in colour.
