The Siamese is also known as the prince among cats. A title bestowed upon Siamese cats because of their extravert and remarkable character. They show emotion, demand attention and are very talkative. Character

As mentioned, the Siamese is a very extravert, emotive breed that loves attention. Siamese cats have a tendency to be dramatic and are always quite present. If that’s your thing, this is the perfect breed for you! The drawback is that Siamese cats don’t appreciate being ignored and they will use their powerful voice in hopes of getting attention. Siamese cats don’t like being alone and leaving them home alone won’t be appreciated. Although Siamese cats aren’t great with their own kind, they really enjoy playing with children. In short, a Siamese cat is a vocal, present cat that has the potential to become your best friend.

Appearance

Colour

Siamese cats are born completely white and start getting their colour when they’re five days old. Their coat is characterised by point coloration. Colour points are influenced by temperature. The coldest parts of the body (head, tail, ears and legs) will get a colour while the warmest parts generally stay white. Siamese cats that live outside are always darker in colour than Siamese cats that live inside.

Body, legs and tail

The Siamese cat has a solid appearance with an excellent structure from chest to trunk. Their neck is medium long, but very muscular compared to the rest of their body. The legs are muscular with slightly rounded paws. The tail is of average length and in proportion to the body. The tail is a little wider at the base and tapers to a fine point.

Head, ears and eyes

The head of a Siamese cat is wide and medium to long in length. The muscle development is visible, but not to an extreme. The jaws are flat with full cheeks. The nose is long. The almond-shaped eyes are of average size, with a curve below the eyelid. The eyes are fairly wide-set set and bright blue.

Coat

The Siamese has a firm coat that is not completely flat. Their shiny coat has a satiny feel and they a very thin undercoat.

The average weight of a Siamese is between 2.5 – 5.5 kg.
