Defencare shampoo

Virbac Defencare shampoo contains permethrin, a synthetic chemical which is an insecticide effective against fleas and ticks. It has a toxic effect on the CNS of parasites, so fleas are eliminated within a few hours. Permethrin is entirely safe for humans and animals and is biodegradable. The product is short-acting and therefore ideally suited for controlling an existing flea and/or tick infestation.

Using Defencare shampoo

First drench the dog in lukewarm water, apply and massage shampoo against the pelt to form a lather. Wash the whole body (except eyes, mouth and nose). As a guide, 10 ml of shampoo will suffice for a dog weighing 5 kg. After 2 minutes, rinse with clean lukewarm water and allow the coat to dry. The activity window against fleas and ticks is relatively short, so this product is most suitable to control an existing flea and/or tick infestation. Repeat after 2 weeks if necessary.

Not suitable for

Do not use Defencare shampoo on cats, sick or convalescing animals, puppies under 3 months, dogs with severe skin lesions or lactating dogs.
