Rottweiler
This sturdy boy from the German town of Rottweil originates from ancestors who were guardians and protectors of cattle. The Rottweiler is a medium to large, sturdy dog, neither clumsy nor light in build, not long-legged or skinny. His proportionate powerful, compact appearance shows great strength, agility and endurance.
Characteristics
Colour
The Rottweiler has fairly short, thick and coarse hair. Underneath is a thick undercoat. The colour is standard black with brown patterns. Because of its short hair this dog is easy to take care of. During the shedding period, occasionally comb the coat to remove dead hairs. A rubber glove is extremely suitable for this. To make the coat look shiny, it is best to wash it and use a lotion.
Approach to training
The owner of the Rottweiler must be calm and balanced. It is important that you remain honest and consistent with this dog. Rottweilers can be a bit dominant so you have to stand firmly in your shoes. Make a lot of use of your voice while raising your pet, let them know if they are doing well. Provide variety in training sessions. You should be a little stricter with males than with female dogs. This dog is very suitable for surveillance and defence. However, you will need to be more patient with this breed compared to shepherds.
