Cookie Ingredients

If you are going to bake snacks yourself, there is a wide choice of ingredients. Here is a list of types of ingredients that you can add to your homemade cookie:

  • Meat: An important ingredient for cookies. Most dogs also love fish. Make sure you remove all bones from the fish.
  • Vegetables: Many vegetables can be processed into dog biscuits. For example, you can add grated carrots to the dough or use potatoes as a binder.
  • Grain: Choose gluten-free flour or spelled flour, almond flour or potato flour because of allergies.
  • Fruit: Use fruit in small amounts. Due to the high fructose content, most fruits are less digestible for dogs. The advice is to heat them up and then puree them. Apples and pears are very suitable for this.
  • Herbs: Herbs are not necessary, but you can add medicinal herbs or plants that have a healing effect.

There are also a number of ingredients that you should not add to your homemade snacks, including: avocados, cocoa, raisins, grapes, sweeteners, sugar and onions. This is because of the poor tolerance or a poisonous effect in high doses.

Dog Biscuit Recipes

Allergy-friendly training snacks

You mix two equal parts of finely chopped meat and potato flour, first cooking the meat in water. Then knead until you have a workable dough. Spread the dough (0.5 cm) on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes at 200 degrees. Then you can cut it into small pieces. You can store the snacks in the refrigerator or freezer for a few days.

Meat cookies

Ingredients: 200 grams of minced horse, lamb or beef, 400 grams of flour, 100 grams of oatmeal, 2 eggs, 120 ml of broth.

You mix all the ingredients and roll out the dough into an even layer about 1 cm thick. Then bake for 45 minutes at 180 degrees.

Healthy dog biscuits with herbs

If you want to pamper your dog, it is nice if it is also healthy. For example, you can add healthy herbs to the biscuits to give your dog extra support. Below are three recipes that use healthy ingredients in combination with a Green Os product to provide extra support in a tasty cookie.

Healthy hormones:

Sardines contain healthy omega 3 fatty acids, olive oil contains omega 3, 6 and 9 and Provarium Breeding from Green Os has a regulating effect on hormones.

Ingredients: 1 can of drained chickpeas, 75 grams of canned sardines, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 egg, 30 grams of Provarium Breeding.

Preheat the oven to 150 degrees and line a baking sheet with baking paper. Briefly mix all ingredients in the food processor until a cohesive mass is formed. Then you can roll small balls and place them on the baking sheet. This goes into the oven for 30 minutes. The balls may still be slightly soft and elastic after baking.

Healthy stomach:

Ginger has a soothing effect on the stomach. The addition of Maag Compositum protects the stomach lining. They are also suitable to take with you on a trip if your dog does not enjoy car rides.

Ingredients: 20 grams of peeled and grated ginger, 1 ripe/mashed banana, 1 egg, 200 grams of whole wheat flour, 20 grams of Maag Compositum.

Preheat the oven to 150 degrees and line a baking sheet with baking paper. Use a fork to mix the egg with the grated ginger and mashed banana until well mixed. Add the flour and Maag Compositum and knead into a dough. Roll out the dough into a sheet of about 0.5 cm. Now you can cut out fun shapes and place them on the baking sheet. After 20 to 30 minutes, these cookies are ready.

Healthy Coat:

Garlic is very healthy for your animal in smaller quantities. It is blood-purifying and thus helps to keep unwanted microorganisms at bay.

Ingredients: 5 cloves of garlic, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, 200 grams of (rice) flour, 50 ml of water.

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees. Peel the garlic and press it over a bowl. Heat the coconut oil until it is liquid. Then first mix the garlic, coconut oil and egg well together and then add the flour. Add water gradually while kneading until you have a soft and smooth dough. You can now make small balls and flatten them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake the cookies for 20 minutes until they are firm and cooked.

KONG Recipes

The Kong Classic is an ideal way to put homemade food in it and give it to your dog. This is how you entertain your dog with a homemade recipe. In principle, you can mix everything and put it in the KONG. After filling the KONG, close the KONG with the help of KONG Easy Treat. The fuller you stuff the KONG with ingredients, the harder it is for your dog to get the food out of the KONG.

Baking Tips

In order to be able to bake tasty snacks for your dog, attention must be paid to the ratio of the ingredients. In principle, with healthy dogs you can let your imagination run wild and only take into account ingredients that are harmful to your pet. Below we give some tips on what to look for when choosing ingredients:

  • Use as few additives and flavor enhancers as possible
  • Choose the right ingredients if your dog has an allergy. For example, your dog may react to grain or wheat flour. Alternatives are then spelled flour, rice flour, millet, potatoes, buckwheat or corn flour. In addition, dogs can react to dairy products.
  • Adding certain oils has a positive effect on your pet’s skin and coat due to the high content of unsaturated fatty acids
  • The size of the cookies depends on the dog breed
  • Dry biscuits support healthy teeth
  • Adding quark or a crushed eggshell supports the joints with extra calcium.
