Agility
Agility is a popular and dynamic sport where teamwork between handler and dog is key. A competition consists of a course with various obstacles such as hurdles, tunnels, slaloms, and seesaws. The handler runs alongside the dog, guiding them through the obstacles using verbal and physical cues. The goal is for the dog to complete the entire course as quickly and flawlessly as possible. You can also train your dog for agility competitions at home.
Hunting
There are several disciplines in this sport: walk-up hunting, retrieving on land and/or water, flushing game, and tracking. To prepare your dog for hunting, you can use training tools such as the Trixie Dog Activity Preydummy.
Flyball
Flyball is a relay race where teams consist of four dogs. Each dog must jump over four hurdles to reach a Flyball machine. When the dog presses a pedal with their paw, a ball is launched. The dog must catch the ball and quickly return over the hurdles to the starting line. Once they cross the finish line, the next dog takes off.
Canicross
Canicross is a fast-growing but still relatively unknown dog sport. In this sport, the dog wears a special harness, such as the EzyDog Chest Plate Harness, which is attached to the handler with an elastic band around the waist. Together, they run a course on off-road trails, with the dog often leading slightly ahead. A variation of Canicross is Bikejöring, where the handler rides a specially adapted mountain bike while the dog pulls.
Dog Fitness
Dog fitness is a great way to keep your dog in shape. Exercises with balance cushions, tunnels, and jumping obstacles help build strength, coordination, and endurance. Whether you’re training for a specific dog sport or simply looking for a fun way to keep your dog active, there are plenty of opportunities to stay active together!
