Does your dog love running, jumping, and playing fetch? Then frisbee is the perfect game for him! Frisbee strengthens your bond and is a great way to improve your dog’s overall fitness.

Dog Frisbee, something for your dog too?

Dog Frisbee is a fun but intensive sport. In theory, any dog can learn to play frisbee, although some dogs may be less enthusiastic about it. It is up to you as the owner to make the game interesting for your dog. Of course, the breed of your dog also plays a role. Certain breeds are faster and more agile than others. For larger, robust dog breeds, jumping and running may be too strenuous. Additionally, dogs with a short snout may find it difficult to hold the frisbee in their mouth. Fortunately, almost every sport is a matter of practice. As long as you both enjoy the game, anything is possible!

The right frisbee

The hard plastic frisbee that we use for ourselves is not suitable for your dog. These discs are usually sharp and hard, which can damage your dog’s mouth. At Vetsend, you can find various types of frisbees that are perfect for using with your dog. Check out the KONG Flyer Frisbee made of flexible, soft rubber, among others. If you want to introduce your young puppy to Dog Frisbee early on, the KONG Puppy Flyer Frisbee for puppies is a great alternative.

The game

Dog Frisbee can be played at home, but there are also courses that are given at dog clubs. To get the most out of the game, it is important to follow a few steps.

  • Practice throwing the frisbee yourself without your dog first.
  • Gradually build up frisbee playing with your dog; when you start training, never throw the frisbee too far or high.
  • Because your dog still needs to learn how to catch the disc, it is advisable not to throw it straight at your dog.

When you both have mastered frisbee playing, you can choose to participate in competitions.
