They both have a dense undercoat. They are sensitive, versatile, initiative dogs with sharp instincts and very eager to learn. They require gentle, but consistent upbringing and training.

2. Australian Shepherd

The Australian Shepherd, like the Border Collie, falls under the Herding and Cattle Breed group. They are lively and agile dogs and have a short tail. The coat is medium length with a dense undercoat. They are smart dogs, very attached to the family. They are dogs that like to work and really need to have something to do.

3. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever falls within the Retrievers, Spaniels and Water Dogs breed group. They are muscular and agile dogs with triangular ears and webbed feet. They have a medium length, water-resistant coat in a colour that’s between red and orange, with a dense undercoat. They may have white markings. They are smart, playful and affectionate dogs that love to learn. They are not always friends with everyone and need proper socialisation and training to become social dogs.

The Samoyed is a breed from the breed group Spitz and primal types. It is outwardly a true Arctic dog with a semi-long, white coat and dense undercoat. They are sociable and friendly family dogs that need a gentle but consistent upbringing. They are active dogs that like to be with their owner and do things together.

7. Finnish Spitz

The Finnish Spitz is a dog from the Spitz breed group. They have the real pointed build, with a long and prominent coat on the body, and a long and soft coat on the tail and back, but with shorter fur on the head and legs. They are standard golden brown. It is an independent and watchful breed. They can bark a lot, as this was necessary for when they used to be hunting dogs. They are lively, energetic, but spirited and self-confident dogs. They need good socialisation.

8. Beagle

The Beagle is a dog breed from the hound dog group. They are cheerful and affectionate house dogs. They have a great passion for hunting and easily follow their noses. Courageous, active and determined are the beagle’s characteristic qualities. They have a short coat, usually in the typical tricolour (white/brown/black) with long ears and a sturdy upright tail. They can bark a lot.

9. Australian Cattle Dog

The Australian Cattle Dog belongs to the Sheepdogs and Cattle Dogs breed group. They are powerful, muscular working dogs. Fearless, courageous and determined. They are very loyal and protective by nature, towards both its owner and its property. They have a short, weatherproof outer coat with a short and dense undercoat. They originated from the Dingo and can therefore be wild.

10. Medium Schnauzer

The Schnauzer is, as the name suggests, a dog from the group of Pinschers, Schnauzers, Molossers and Mountain Dogs. A lively, good-natured and affectionate dog, often a little suspicious of strangers. They have a strong, somewhat stocky build and a rough, hard and dense coat. A short topcoat and dense undercoat with a beard and shaggy eyebrows. They can be different colours, but the most common are salt, pepper and black.
