Puppy toys

Playing around with your puppy has to be one of the best activities in the world! It is fun, relaxing and you get to grow closer to your furry friend. An added benefit is that playtime will tire your puppy, which means it’s a great way to release that excess energy. Pups also become more independent if they play with a toy: it distracts and entertains them, so they’ll gradually learn that they don’t have to be around their littermates or owner all the time. Playtime will become even more fun with the right variety of toys!

Suitable toys

For puppies, any toy is the best toy ever and he can play around for hours. Even though you might not have the same stamina as your puppy, it is important that you never leave your puppy alone. Toys can easily rip, and the pieces might get swallowed unintentionally. You also need to be careful when playing with a puppy that’s 4 to 6 months old, especially if you’re planning to play a game of tug-of-war. If the tugging is too rough, a tooth might get loose. So always let your puppy determine the pace of the game.

Training your puppy

By taking the time to play, your puppy can learn a lot. It is relatively easy to teach your puppy that biting in anything other than the toy isn’t allowed. If your puppy (accidentally) bites your hand, you stop the game. Your puppy should catch on rather quickly and focus on biting the toy instead. While playing fetch or tug-of-war, you can teach your dog commands like “come” and “drop it”. The KONG Wubba Puppy toy is the perfect fetch and tug toy!

Puppy Teething Toys

At around four months, puppies start to teeth. This can be a painful process, so you’ll need some ways to relieve the pain. Chew toys can reduce the discomfort of sore gums, like the Beeztees Puppy Dental Bone. For extra relief, you can cool the toy in the fridge. There are also toys for puppy’s that aren’t teething just yet, like the Nylabone Teething Puppy Pacifier. Chew toys tend to be made of materials that are flexible yet resilient enough to withstand your puppy’s chewing.
