Product Description
Food hypersensitivity
A hypersensitive reaction to food can manifest itself in skin complaints or gastrointestinal problems. The two may also occur at the same time. These symptoms are not specific and can therefore also occur in other, more severe, disorders. Always ask your veterinarian for advice!
Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Cat
For the treatment of food hypersensitivity, your veterinarian will often prescribe a certain diet. Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Cat has been developed for the diagnosis and treatment of food hypersensitivity. This diet food is also suitable as part of the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and skin problems.
Recommended for
- Food allergies (dermatological disorders and/or digestive problems)
- Food intolerance
- Elimination diet (a test diet which rarely causes adverse reactions; use for at least 6 weeks)
- Chronic enteritis/Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
- Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI)
- Bacterial overgrowth
- Constipation (in cases of no response to dietary fibre)
Key features
Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Cat contains hydrolysed soy proteins with a low molecular weight. These proteins are seldom recognised as allergens (agents which cause the reaction) and are easily digestible. A special combination of vitamins and zinc reduces water loss from the skin and improves its barrier function. Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA / DHA) have an anti-inflammatory effect. The combination of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and zeolite (a specific mineral) promotes balanced intestinal flora and helps protect the intestinal wall. The food is gluten- and lactose-free, and contains L-tyrosine for optimal coat pigmentation (Intensive Colour).

Advice
Use Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Cat for at least 6 weeks. Bowel symptoms often disappear faster than skin complaints (the latter may last up to 9 weeks). Cats often have lifelong sensitivity to the same ingredient(s), so this feed can be used indefinitely.
For hypersensitive dogs, Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Dog is available.
