Product Description
Kidney disorders
Kidney disease is relatively common in cats. Although young animals can suffer with kidney issues, renal problems are more prevalent in older cats. These conditions are often long term, and the function of the kidneys usually progressively deteriorates. Full recovery is not possible, but your veterinarian may be able to keep these problems under control for an extended period of time. One of the key measures is to give the pet special diet food.
Royal Canin Renal Select
Because food plays such an important role in the treatment of kidney disease, Royal Canin offers three diet foods in the Renal range, developed to support renal function in chronic kidney disease. These three variants include Royal Canin Renal Cat, Royal Canin Renal Special Cat and Royal Canin Renal Cat Select, each of which have their own flavour in order to meet your cat's wishes and to help stimulate appetite.
The kibble of Royal Canin Renal Cat Select consist of two different textures, a hard exterior and soft interior, both of which offer a different flavour. This stimulates food intake in cats with reduced appetite.
Royal Canin Renal Select is suitable for cats who do not like dry food. To see how Renal Select wet food (chicken, beef and tuna) can be combined, go to Royal Canin Renal Cat.
Recommended for

Key features
The special recipe with a reduced phosphorus content, EPA & DHA and antioxidants supports renal function in chronic renal disease. This energy-rich diet helps maintain body weight and can be given in small portions, so it is gentle on the stomach. The high-quality protein and modified protein content can also reduce the workload of the kidneys. In addition, it strengthens immunity and slows the effects of ageing. The accumulation of waste products in the body can lead to lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. The combination of zeolite and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) in Royal Canin Renal Special helps to reduce the risk of additional gastrointestinal problems by forming a protective layer and well-balanced intestinal flora.
Use
The packaging has information regarding recommended daily amounts. Ensure that the food is given dry and that your pet always has access to clean drinking water.
Advice
Diet foods should be given for up to 6 months under the supervision of a veterinarian. If the diet goes well, it can be given for life, but always consult your veterinarian first.
