Product Description
Kidney disorders
Kidney disease in dogs is relatively common. Although it often occurs in older dogs, young dogs are still at risk from kidney problems. These conditions are often long-term, in which the function of the kidneys progressively deteriorates. Full recovery is impossible, however, a thorough treatment administered by a vet can control the problems for an extended period of time. Special diet food is one of the most important means of treatment.
Royal Canin Renal Select
Because food plays such an important role in the treatment of kidney disease, Royal Canin offers three diet foods in the Renal range, developed to support renal function during chronic kidney disease. These three variants include Royal Canin Renal Dog, Royal Canin Renal Special Dog and Royal Canin Renal Select Dog, each of which have their own flavour in order to meet your dog's requirements. This helps stimulate the dog's appetite.
The tasty food from Royal Canin Renal Select Dog consist of two different textures, a hard exterior and soft interior, both of which offer a different flavour. This stimulates food intake in dogs with a reduced appetite.
Royal Canin Renal Select is suitable for dogs who do not like regular Renal food. To combine Renal Select with a wet food for dogs with kidney disease, go to: Royal Canin Renal Dog.
Recommended for

- The prevention of urinary tract stones (urate stones, cystine stones)
- Preventing oxalate stones in dogs with renal impairment
Key features
Chronic kidney disease affects kidney function. One of the tasks that the kidneys are no longer able to do effectively is excreting phosphorus. A reduced phosphorus content in the food helps to slow the progression of kidney disease. This energy-rich Royal Canin Select diet helps maintain body weight and can be given in small portions to reduce the strain on the stomach. The high quality protein and modified protein content can also reduce the load on the kidneys. In addition, it strengthens the immune system and inhibits the effects of ageing. The accumulation of waste products in the body can lead to lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. The combination of zeolite and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) in Royal Canin Renal Select helps to reduce the risk of additional gastrointestinal problems by forming a protective layer on the stomach and intestinal wall and provides a well-balanced intestinal flora.
