Kidney disease
Kidney disease in cats is relatively common. Most commonly, the disease occurs in older cats, but younger animals can also suffer from it. The condition is often long term, with the function of the kidneys progressively deteriorating. Despite the fact that full recovery is not possible, the disease may be kept under control for a long time using a treatment plan established by a veterinarian. One of the key measures is a special diet.
Royal Canin Renal Special
As diet plays such an important role, Royal Canin has developed three diet foods in the Renal range, to support renal function in chronic kidney disease. These three varieties, Royal Canin Renal Cat, Royal Canin Renal Special Cat and Royal Canin Renal Select Cat each have their own flavours to meet the needs of your cat. This helps to stimulate appetite.
Royal Canin Renal Special is suitable for cats with kidney problems who find ordinary Renal kibble unappealing. Royal Canin Renal Special kibble has the same texture as the Royal Canin Renal kibble, but a different taste and smell. The ingredients in the kibble are exactly the same, only the additives are different. Have a look at Royal Canin Renal Cat for Renal wet food in one of the following flavours: chicken, beef and tuna.
Recommended for
- Chronic kidney disease
- To prevent urinary tract stones (urate stones, cystine stones)
- To prevent oxalate stones in cats with renal impairment
- Liver disease.
Key features
The special recipe with a reduced phosphorus content, EPA & DHA and antioxidants supports renal function in chronic renal disease. This energy-rich diet helps maintain body weight and can be given in small portions, so it is gentle on the stomach. The high-quality protein and modified protein can also reduce the workload of the kidneys. In addition, it strengthens immunity and slows the effects of ageing. The accumulation of waste products in the body can lead to lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. The combination of zeolite and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) helps to reduce the risk of additional gastrointestinal problems by forming a protective layer and well-balanced intestinal flora.
Instructions for use
The packaging has a food table showing the recommended daily amounts. Give the food dry and make sure there is always fresh drinking water available.
Advice
This diet should be given for up to 6 months, under regular monitoring by a veterinarian. If there are no problems, the food can be given indefinitely, but always consult with your own veterinarian.
