The owner of Smoofl is Tineke. The brand originated from a Christmas gift for Tineke’s sister-in-law, the owner of a dachshund. A baking mould shaped like a dog inspired Tineke to create healthy, dog-friendly recipes and start a blog. She tested her homemade dog treats on her own dog, Bacchus, who thoroughly enjoyed them. The name Smoofl is derived from the East Flemish word ‘Smoefelen,’ which means eating with taste and pleasure.
