    Food hypersensitivity

Food hypersensitivity means that your cat has an excessive or allergic reaction to certain ingredients in food. This can be treated with special diet foods which do not contain the ingredients that cause reactions in your cat. A food hypersensitivity diagnosis is made based on the results of an elimination diet. Such a diet is sometimes referred to as hypoallergenic, and includes a single protein and a single carbohydrate source, which are known to rarely cause hypersensitive reactions.

    TROVET Hypoallergenic RRD (Rabbit) Cat

TROVET Hypoallergenic RRD - Rabbit Rice Diet contains a single protein source (rabbit) and a single carbohydrate source (rice). The diet should be used for 3-8 weeks, and should be your cat's only source of food. The diet prevents food allergies or food intolerances that appear in the form of skin complaints and/or gastrointestinal problems. Not all symptoms will immediately reduce or disappear. Skin conditions usually improve slowly over time. If symptoms decrease or disappear entirely, a food allergy can be diagnosed.TROVET Hypoallergenic RRD (Rabbit) Cat also contains all of the essential nutrients in optimal amounts.

Sometimes has a bit of jelly on top. Not always same consistency

  • Much better
By Sue Whitehurst, Friday 7 June 2024

My 10 year old rescue cat has been diagnosed with IBD. I tried three other hypoallergenic foods - he vomited violently soon after eating them. A vet specialising in internal medicine recommended Trovet. Initially Gizzy seemed to enjoy it, now I would say he tolerates it! His overnight sickness has improved although he’s been sick recently but that seemed to be due to fur balls and there wasn’t any blood. He’s started playing with his toys and attacking the hearth rug again so is obviously feeling better.

  • Enjoyed by both cats

I have one cat allergic to fish & chicken. You try finding cat food without those ingredients that cats will eat. Both of my cats enjoy this food. I was concerned that the biscuits are quite small but no issues have been had

  • Both Cats Love It
By Jane Fletcher, Wednesday 17 January 2024

My elderly cat is allergic to fish & maybe chicken. I only purchased the small bag as a tester. I have not ordered a bigger bag as we have a winner. I was concerned about how small the biscuits are, but no complaints from both of my fur babies.

  • 3 weeks in, so far, so good
By Audrey, Tuesday 31 October 2023

My cat took to it straight away and at the moment prefers it to the other kibbles he is on. He is on a combination of 2 brands of hydrolysed dry foods and after a long introduction to these two (about 2 months) I can say things are better (firmer poops and no more bile vomiting). They seem to even have gotten better since I added Trovet Rabbit. We are not out of the woods but fingers crossed, things will continue to improve and settle for the best and for good. I am planning to try the lamb and insects options in time too. The food smells strong enough to be appetising to cats, but not overpowering either. The shape of the kibbles is not round, but more like a flatten 3-legged star. The package is robust and reseals perfectly. I realised my cat wants to eat more since on it, but that could be the season or him liking the novelty and being a bit greedy. I give him the extra and I don't see flagrant weight gain. I recommend the product and also want to command Vetsend for the quality of their delivery service. I received everything on time and the box was sturdy and is still used by the cat ;)
